The Dark Project Status - Mods

I have a bit of news for effiles.com .   Tdp (The Dark Project) has upgraded the
status of their mod Insurrection:Alpha, to "Soon".  If you know anything about
tdp, they rarely ever give us an update on the mod's status.  They really mean
soon.  Mac has told us the only things left deal with stuck npc's and problems
like the ones Raven encountered when dealing with team members that thought you
shot them when it was really those turrets.

TDP is still deciding if they are going to release the mod in sections, by maps,
or by level type portions.  They are also unsure if they are going to release
the mod with known bugs and then patch them later.  However, Mac is leaning more
to fixing them now and pushing release back, but the decision is still being
made.

To hold us over, Mac has released a Great screenshot that demonstrates some of
the new things added with the mod.

You can find the old screenshots that were in the press release at this
location:
http://www.darkproject.org/promo/index.html

Those screenshots, if you haven't already seen them, demonstrate a comparrison
between actual shots of the show, tdp I:A shots, and shots from Raven's own
maps.  Of course, the goal of tdp has always been to create a mod which is
completely canon, in the lines of trek.  The pictures are truely stunning.  The
link might be useful for people who don't know much about I:A.

The new screenshot can be found here:
http://www.darkproject.org/temp/pics/ff.jpg

There is only one, but this one shot can demonstrate a number of things
available in the mod (TDP has always been on the side of secrecy, as to not
spoil the mod when its done).  The screenshot demonstrates the new phaser weapon
model, with a skintoned hand that looks pretty realistic.  There are also the
beautiful corridors.  Finally, another new element is the "canon" forcefield.
The forcefields look more like the ones in the show, plus they also behave like
them too.  They become visible only when fired upon, or bumped in to.

The work tdp has been doing for the past two years has been truely remarkable.
Some of the team members have expressed concerns, that if the mod were to
finally be relesed the public wouldn't care.  I, and I'm sure the members of
TDP, would be greatly appreciative if effiles would post some news about them.
It may give tdp the final push they need to get this awesome mod out the door.

Thanks,
MrPsycho

Geez, I mean, I thought that the episode was great and couldn't wait to try the mod, especially with the kick-***** trailer! They chose a really good idea for a mod, and I am anxious to see this mod get out the door. cool

This updated news didn't get released: The mod is going to be released by levels.

There are three larger sections to Insurrection, which are Alpha Beta and Gama..

Within Insurrection:Alpha there are levels. These are whats going to be released. A single level has many problems that you have to walk back through, instead of playing levels where running through a lonnggg base is the goal. So a single level in I:A will contain many different elements, but not necessarilly be huge.

This mod is looking awesome. I'm very impressed with their attention to detail. This is what a mod is supposed to be. I hope game developers and modders follow this as an example in the future. I can't wait for its release. Two Thumbs Up!
