Description:
Despite being around the RPG-X community for some time now, RadiSign of the New Hope roleplay group brings us the newest Beta of what is perhaps their masterpiece map: the USS Ariana.

The Ariana is a medium size map representing the new "Morpheus-class" runabouts, which are slightly bigger than your typical Danube-class, including such areas as a multi-purpose office, a fully equipped sickbay, crew cabins, and also an escape pod (which launches). In addition to this, Ariana brings you some new RPing features like the ability to land the runabout and then spacewalk outside on what appears to be a barren asteroid or moon. Of course, warp, impulse, red alert and all the usual are here too. I could go on and on about the different rooms and features, but that description covers the basics.

Anyway, tech-wise, everything is finely polished and the textures hit the spot exactly. Could have done with a little more light outside the ship when landed, perhaps, but thats my only complaint. This is a seriously good map and one that EVERY roleplayer should have.

Installation:

Put the 'uss_ariana.pk3' in your baseEF/ directory. If you have an old version replace it with this!
In the console, type: map uss_ariana

Background:

This is the next Version of the USS Ariana map. The Map is fully compatible with original Elite Force and ioST:V HM.
The USS ARIANA is the Captain's yacht / Runabout of the USS MUKOSAKA (http://img.mukosaka.xerox-zone.de/)

Usage:

- The Escapepods only can be used if the Runabout is out of warp and stopped impulse engines. Trigger is situated at the CO Chair.
- The Airlock is only usable if the Runabout is landed. You can land if there is also no warp or impulse be activated.

I am impressed...although it took a little time to figure out some of the features.

The only thing I would change, like with all New Hope maps, is the height. No offense, but I constantly feel constricted and a little claustrophobic walking around. I honestly feel as if I'm going to hit my head on a bulkhead or something.

Another issue was the asteroid. Although I loved the idea...only seeing half the shuttle frustrating. Whats worse is that if you use the noclip cheat...the other half of the shuttle has a part of the hull missing.

Aside from that and the one missing texture - I am impressed! Did I say that already?
Definitely going to keep this one.

Well sorry RadiSign that I took over the word to explain that.

Wel.. alle New Hope maps are made that way that they match into our RP's, in which we don't have a lot of resources. Thats the reaseson why in the shipyards near Station Modas only small ships where build. I think the interior size matches perfectly with the exterior size.

And now my opinion: I think if you have high and big rooms in a small vessel, it don't have the right feeling.

Yes only at RPG-X the beta3 was released.

Yes the outer left hull has temporally only caulk texture. In next version, the final, it will be fixed! That depends on the further way of the Ariana map... Like you can see at the readme "The USS ARIANA is the Captain's yacht / Runabout of the USS MUKOSAKA (http://img.mukosaka.xerox-zone.de/)" (show MSD) the map get partially included into the USS Mukosaka, the mothership of the USS Ariana. There the Ariana is docked functionless and used as a form of passage, while switching the map in RP. At the final version of the Ariana are planned a more atmospheric exterior, with some additional extras, and the runabout can be rounded afoot.

p.s. the USS Mukosaka map, release temporally unknown, has more space between model and ceiling, but at Ariana you can use the numpad of you keyboard to adjust the camera perspective, like on each each other map in RPG-X wink

First off, I must say I love this map. Excellent work! smile The only comment I have comes from issues with the admin class. When activating the forcefield on the aft door to engineering, it appears to be different from a standard forcefield. Normally the admin class can walk through forcefields. This one you cannot. I was curious to the reason. Aside from that, I love the features of this map and cannot wait for the mother ship to be released.

If you're sitting in the captain's chair, the upper-left corner of the right side grey pad will activate the abandon ship alarm. Head to the escape pod room (room with the big metal door with the glass window) and hit the wall panel. Pod opens. Enter the pod and wait a few seconds, then crouch down. Smack around on the panel between the chairs a few times, then stand up, pod launches. To return to the ship, hit the orange button all the way in the back of that little panel. Pod returns. smile
