CTF Battletactic3 (0.9) - File Description

(Review pending)

This map might be the third in the series, based off of the name. I could not think of a better name for it, so it might not be true to the other two of the similar name.

I got bored and ideas have popped up in my head. Team Fortress 2 became inspiration for this concept used in this map. Photon jump, based off of the idea of a Rocket jump in TF2.

Photon jump:
Here is how you do a photon jump. You jump and fire at the ground with your photon burst.

Due to me just testing this, there are other weapons that will get you up the area that requires the photon jump. These include the grenade launcher and the scavenger rifle.

I hope you know that rocket jumping existed since Quake.
Anyway, I don't feel like downloading something that has known bugs that you asked about on a forum good for technical help with EF but you were too impatient to wait for a reply.

Well, I am releasing the final version once I get that fix, but the point of this is not the silly med padd, it is the use of these "ancient rocket jumps" to achieve the goal.

Plan to make some "jump" maps that aren't supported by the official gamemodes.

Have you heard of the Defrag Mod for Quake lll Arena. The Weapons could be Moded to better suit strafe Jumping and plasma climbing.

Currently I don't have my PC with EF on it in order, so I can't check the map...

A training map never hurts, if there is enough diversity in skill (2 times and 3 times photon jumps - they land together at the same time which gets you double the height - hard to time).
Grenade is fun, but only in alternate fire mode. Primary fire mode doesn't make the grenade fall and bounce straight up, a major nuisance.

A while ago I started making a map based on some ideas I saw in Defrag maps. The first section has a jumppad which brings you to the same speed as a photon, you have invulnarability and quad, and you photonjump off of 10+ quaded photons.
Awesome speed and height - offline. When I discovered that online, the physics are very inconsistent, I abandoned the map.

Quaded scav resembles the plasma in quake, I tried some stuff with that too, it's fun.

Check youtube for "quakelive rocket training" - that is basic stuff, when compared to Defrag (for defrag or tricking movies, enough examples also exist).
Turning EF into a defrag mod is near impossible (for example, player speed is less than in Q3, while photon speed is higher than a rocket - this will make it very hard to overtake one's own photon), it's easier to just play Q3 Defrag itself.

But again, a training map never hurts Two Thumbs Up!

I'd say it's easy to change the player and photon speeds.

With enough hypo, sure this could be adapted to EF. Going to work on a training map for this when I get back home.

[quote=fraggles] I'd say it's easy to change the player and photon speeds.
Most of the player speed you see in Quake lll / Defrag videos comes from Bunny hopping + strafe jumping add to that the circle jump for a push off and you get speed. In-Depth explanation of jumping physics available http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake3/FAQFPSJumps.html http://www.quake3world.com/ubb/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20000822-3-015173.html
